The Project

D.R. Electrical was contracted by Acorn Insurance to install twin access gates within the reception area of their Liverpool city centre offices.

The project aimed to enhance security and streamline access control for employees and visitors. The installation featured ZK Teco gates integrated with Paxton readers, seamlessly incorporated into the existing Paxton access system.

Additionally, fire alarm interfaces were installed to ensure the gates would be released in the event of a fire activation, ensuring safety compliance.

Site Requirements

  • Access Gate Installation: Install twin access gates in the reception area.
  • Integration: Integrate ZK Teco gates with Paxton readers into the existing Paxton access control system.
  • Safety Compliance: Install fire alarm interfaces to ensure gates release during a fire alarm activation.

Installation Process

We conducted a detailed site survey to understand the layout and specific requirements for the installation.

Our electricians also collaborated with Acorn Insurance’s security team to ensure alignment on security needs and integration with the existing system.

Planning

Our experienced team developed a comprehensive project plan detailing the installation process, timeline, and key milestones for Acorn.

We designed a customised solution to integrate the ZK Teco gates and Paxton readers with the existing access control system.

Installation

We installed twin ZK Teco access gates in the reception area, ensuring they were aesthetically aligned with the office design. We also needed to integrate Paxton readers with the ZK Teco gates to facilitate secure and efficient access control.

This ensured the new gates were seamlessly incorporated into the existing Paxton access system for cohesive operation.

Fire Alarm Interface Setup:

Installed fire alarm interfaces to ensure that the access gates would automatically release in the event of a fire alarm activation.

Conducted thorough testing to verify the functionality and reliability of the fire alarm interface system.

Testing and Commissioning:

Conducted rigorous testing of the entire system to ensure all components were functioning correctly.

Provided training to Acorn Insurance staff on operating the new access gates and managing the integrated access control system.

Technical Challenges

The main technical challenge in this project was ensuring the new ZK Teco gates and Paxton readers were fully compatible with the existing Paxton access system. Our team conducted detailed compatibility assessments and tests to ensure this seamless integration.

The End Results

The successful installation of access gates at Acorn Insurance’s Liverpool offices highlights our expertise in delivering advanced security solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.

By integrating ZK Teco gates with Paxton readers into the existing access control system and ensuring safety compliance through fire alarm interfaces, we provided Acorn Insurance with a robust and reliable security solution that enhances both security and operational efficiency.

The fire alarm interfaces also ensured that the access gates would release in the event of a fire, providing a safe and compliant solution for emergency situations.
